Top Tips for Keeping Your Oven Clean

An image of a silver cooker hob shining because it has been cleaned.

Ovens can get dirty very quickly, but cleaning them is a chore that most people don’t enjoy. To help you stay on top of the dirt that gets built up in your oven, we’ve put together some top tips in the latest blog post.

They say that prevention is better than a cure and so before you begin cooking, be sure to line the bottom of your oven with tin foil or an oven sheet – you can find these in most kitchen stores. By covering the oven floor, you’ll be able to clear up the spills that land there by simply throwing away the tin foil you are using or cleaning the oven sheet.

If you’re cooking something that is cooked in a juice, sauce or oil, you’ll typically find this splashes around the oven as it cooks. Where possible, for meat fish or even vegetables, use roasting bags to prevent these splatters from marking your nice clean oven.

Of course, sometimes, you may be unable to prevent the spills that happen inside your oven and when this happens, you’ll need an easy way to clean the spills off.

If you notice marks inside the oven, try placing a heat resistant bowl of water inside the oven on a high temperature for up to 20 minutes. The condensation should loosen any dirt, meaning that once the oven is cool enough, you can wipe away the spills easily and effectively with a paper towel.

Remember that when cleaning any part of your oven, you should always check the manufacturer’s instructions when it comes to cleaning and only use cleaning products that are suitable for the surface of the oven.
